 supporting interns at NCEL member firms...

NCEL Gets You..... Started / Better / Connected!

NCEL annually rewards interns studying for a career in our electrical industry. Interns who qualify are eligible for a $1,500 education bonus upon completion of their internship at a NCEL member company.

NCEL has awarded $279,500 to 207 interns since 1999!

NCEL Internship Drawing Rules & Criteria:

  • NCEL has authorized $30,000 in Internships (20 winners @ $1,500 each) for 2019.
  • See the current year application for the official application criteria.
  • Any student who has completed or currently working on an internship with an NCEL member company (in our Upper Midwest service territory) may apply for a NCEL Internship.
  • Requirements include:
    • the student must be attending or enrolled in an accredited post secondary institution studying for a technical career in the electrical industry;
    • the student must be on track for at least 360 hours of internship work at an NCEL member company (in our Upper Midwest service territory) prior to applying for the internship; and
    • only undergraduate students may submit applications for the NCEL Internship.
  • Member mentors can submit a student's Internship application to NCEL at any time throughout the calendar year, with an annual application deadline of June 30.
  • A completed Internship application includes:
    • an NCEL Internship Application from the student;
    • an essay written by the student describing their internship experience;  and
    • a letter of completion from their employer/mentor which includes a job description and confirmation that the student is on track to work 360 hours for their internship.
  • NCEL will randomly draw Internship winners in July at an NCEL event.
  • In the event that there are fewer than 20 internship applications received, each intern will receive a $1,500 award, thus eliminating the need for a random drawing.
  • There is no limit to the number of internship applications submitted from each company.
