NCEL ~ Who We Are

NCEL is the essential regional electrical industry trade association. We provide a variety of education and networking services for our industry. NCEL has served the Upper Midwest Electrical Industry since 1936. NCEL is a non-profit trade association of corporate and individual members ~ dedicated to fostering a thriving community of electrical industry professionals and forums where industry peers can share ideas, techniques and programs to better serve the industry and its customers.

Who We Serve:

The NCEL footprint extends from the western Dakotas east through Wisconsin, from Canada to the north to the border of Iowa in the south.  Our primary service area footprint is comprised of four mid-western states: Minnesota, North Dakota, South Dakota, and Wisconsin.

Members are of all types, including: investor owned utilities, rural electric cooperatives, municipal utilities, generation and transmission cooperatives, manufacturers, representatives, distributors, engineers, contractors, inspectors, other trade associations, tech schools and universities are involved with NCEL.

What We Do:

We provide continuing education and networking activities in a variety of industry areas. Smaller affiliate group events and conferences are management and technically oriented, while our annual Leadership Summit is focused on current and future industry leaders. In addition, NCEL offers a multifaceted array of traditional association services, ranging from GEM Awards, to publications (monthly newsletters and weekly emails), to the best electrical trade show in North America. All of this is offered in our continued efforts to fulfill our organization's mission.

NCEL's Value Proposition:

NCEL is committed to providing quality products for our membership at a value price, all while striving to keep our membership dues low. To accomplish both is an ongoing challenge that we have always met. Both event registration fees and dues are low and under premiums being charged in the marketplace. We operate on a break-even philosophy, with all revenue, both dues and registration fees, going to pay expenses.

How NCEL Does Business:

NCEL services are driven by the needs of our members. Our goal is to deliver substantial value while balancing NCEL resources. Our board leadership continually evaluates the best methods for reaching a diverse membership in a large coverage area. NCEL works diligently to understand and prioritize the vast needs of our entire membership. Membership suggestions are important to our success through various input venues. Meeting our member needs, providing great value, and balancing resources are the hallmarks that set NCEL above our competition.

NCEL Industry Values:

NCEL is a unique association bringing together many different types of companies. The long-standing tradition of NCEL encourages open-sharing amongst all these sectors, believing that ultimately all will benefit from this sharing in a positive way. Working side by side in a cooperative manner, members band together for the common goal of bettering our industry and improving service for its customers. Since 1936, these key principles have proved successful and more importantly are tried and true methods for building strong business relationships.

NCEL Mission:

Our mission is to work for the overall advancement of the interests of our NCEL members in Minnesota, North Dakota, South Dakota, and Wisconsin. To provide a forum for education and the sharing of ideas and programs to better serve our electrical industry and its customers.
